Challenge Program

What is Challenge?

Cance

The University Recreation Challenge Program launched in spring of 2004 by utilizing portable activities with academic groups. In the summer of 2004, the first low and high challenge course elements (ropes course) were built in the SRC backyard. Currently, we have 3 high elements, 10 low elements, and countless portable initiatives.

What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I know. - Confucius

The Challenge Program is an experiential learning tool to explore the dynamics of a team. Our encouraging environment allows participants to explore and practice new skills and styles. Our program can help your team to develop its teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Most importantly, challenge is fun! Your group may choose from table top indoor exercises, portable and low elements, or high course activities. A physically and emotionally safe environment for learning and choosing is the starting point for all programs.

The UREC Challenge Program is a "signature" learning laboratory in support of core institutional values:

challenge
  • Inquiry and Knowledge
  • Engagement and Application
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork
