eFitness System

University Recreation is proud to announce that we have installed 90 eFitness boxes on our cardio equipment and we thought it would be important for you all to know a little bit about this system.

The basic concept of the system is to be able to view all of your recreational activity, including workout routines in one centralized location and track your progress.  You will see that on the majority of the cardiovascular equipment in the SRC there is a small box labeled Star Trac eFitness System (see picture above) which is equipped with a USB port.  This allows you to use a flash drive to download the data from your workout into an online system that can track and compare your activity.  Simply plug in your flash drive before you start working out and it will begin extracting your workout data every 15 seconds, this allows for the most current information possible from your workout.

Helpful Tips:

  • Any flash drive is compatible although those of you using a MAC computer may have some conflicts with the website and software
  • Plug your flash drive into the eFitness box on your machine and then start exercising, a green light will flash once the cardio equipment is in use to notify you that the system is working (if a red light appears, usually unplugging the flash drive and re-inserting it will correct the problem)
  • Enter in your personal data such as age and weight on the cardio equipment in order to get the best information from your workout data
  • The system will also track your heart rate throughout the workout if you are wearing a heart rate monitor or holding onto the heart rate grips on the machine
  • Another awesome tidbit is that the system recognizes the type of cardio equipment (bike, treadmill, elliptical) and uploads it onto the website in a color coordinated chart
  • You can also upload other activity by choosing the "Upload Other Activity" command at the top of the screen – remember any activity that will improve your overall health can count towards this system
  • "My Charts" – this page is interactive so if you click on the chart it will give you the detailed data about the workout.   Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the system and track your recreational activities.
  • "My Challenges" - please see the information at the bottom of this page for details on current and upcoming challenges through the eFitness system

How to Register:

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and register for a new account
  2. Follow the prompts for entering in your information

  4. Once registered you can start logging your activity by manually entering data or plugging in your flash drive that has your stored workouts and uploading the data.     Note: if you download the software available on the “upload cardio” page, the system will recognize your flash drive and instantaneously upload your workouts without having to logon to the online system.
